5 Tips to Green Apartment Living

Water Bottles

Recycle your used water bottles or invest in a reusable one to eliminate waste.

There are always more things you can do to be a little more “green.” Most of the things you can do every day are quite simple and don’t cost any money.

Here are a few tips on how you can be more environmentally friendly in your Fox Crossing apartment home:

  1. Wash your full load of laundry with cold water only. Heating water takes a lot of energy, and you can decrease your power bill by using only cold water. Also, if it doesn’t stink, don’t wash it. You’ll save 40 gallons of water a week!
  2. Use lemons, vinegar, and essential oils to clean your apartment instead of harsh chemicals found in normal every day cleaners. They clean just as well if not better and are a little cheaper!
  3. Donate your unwanted clothing instead of throwing them away. The energy it takes to put the clothes in a landfill far exceeds the energy it takes to give them away to someone in need.
  4. Need a new computer? Choose a laptop instead of desktop. They use less than half the power when plugged in than desktop computers.
  5. Invest in a nice water bottle to carry around with you. Americans use 3.3 million water bottles, and only 1 out of 5 are actually recycled.
